Patron of the internet
About Carlo Acutis
Carlo Acutis was born in London in 1991 and grew up in Milan. He loved football, video games and coding. He taught himself to build websites and used the skill to catalogue, one by one, the Eucharistic miracles recognised by the Church around the world — a virtual exhibition that later travelled to hundreds of parishes. He received communion every day and summed up his own life in a line that stuck: the Eucharist is my highway to heaven.
He died of sudden leukaemia in 2006, aged 15, offering his suffering for the pope and for the Church. He is buried in Assisi in trainers and a tracksuit, dressed the way he lived. He was beatified in 2020 and canonised in 2025.
He is the saint of teenagers, students, programmers and anyone who spends the day online — proof that holiness does not ask you to escape your own era. A message from Carlo Acutis suits a confirmation, a graduation, a teenager's birthday, a first communion, or a young person who needs to hear that their life means more than the screen in front of them.
